Letter to the year 2018



A letter to the year which is going by.
Is it really going, does it effect any movement of planet and star?
Does it effect my body by any chance?
I may resolve and try to bring change.
Still core remain the same, unchangeable.

Calendar will change, what about the living.
Life will move on with or without calendar, date and time.
Why we want straight line of transition  and circular repetition. While nature has nothing straight, neither a circle. Perfect square and circle , do they really exist?
Why we are looking for smooth straight sail? We long for a arrival of good and bad in circular way?

Let all this notions goes away.
Let's be free from chain of straight and circle.

Let's move as wind takes us.
Lets branch out and reach sky, light.
Let's get tilted like earth and move in eclipse. That's what we see. Some leaning towards what we like. Some phase of life look long and some short. Not everything is equal. Let us stop this game of equalising. We have few more greater, lesser, not equal, approximate and mathematicians can invent few more for us maybe.

Dropping comparison to find equalisation first and then whole game of being greater. When we truly see and feel love, oneness ... Is there any scope of compare...

Now, don't try to compare what you read. What you going to gain? What am I going to loss? Nothing! but if we just be, without comparing we can gain more for sure.

So let's not compare another year.
Let's not compare each and everything for another year.
Let's be ready, let's celebrate every moment of existence.
यह दिल माँगे more.. so why just one new year. Have every moment a celebration.. life long celebration...

One learning of 2018 : Dialogue

Ending the year with one of the most important element of learning. A practice as well as learning which happen through out the year. At many front of life still not able to apply or be effective.

Dialogue according to me is a open sincere communication with...

1. Oneself at all level and parts of being. Physical, Emotional, Mental, spiritual.
2. Other beings
3.Ones surrounding - Nature

Why?
One of the best tool to unleash and discover ones true self.

I learnt a process on dialogue during retreat held up at Krishnamurti study centre, bangalore @ Valley School. and still await to read, do, discuss on dialogue under the light of few materials collected. Sharing one part here.

"A dialogue is very important. It is a form of communication in which question and answer continue till a question is left without an answer. Thus the question is suspended between the two persons involved in this answer and question. It is like a bud with untouched blossoms . . . If the question is left totally untouched by thought, it then has its own answer because the questioner and answerer, as persons, have disappeared. This is a form of dialogue in which investigation reaches a certain point of intensity and depth, which then has a quality that thought can never reach."

On other side, found it very difficult to practice at professional world which is full of Caprice. While at relationship front, struggle is on. Most of the time infact always we are more interested on answer , that to of our own preference. It's a practice in dialogue where we can slowly let go our perceptions, views, beliefs and preferences. Our attachments binding us to rome in same periphery during communication. Not allowing is to take a flight nor to dive deep in multiple questions and answer.

Dialogue with oneself has become so crucial that it reveals our inner and outer crust. Allowing us to Be.

When one is ready to change, other side is also willing than language is not a barrier. Silent dialogue becomes more effective and powerful.
If willingness is not there. Dialogues turns into discussions, debate and quarrel. While one person inner peace can bring sense of dialogue in any conversation.

Often I find myself on inner dialogue while I am still on work or conversation with someone else. Many insights have come when I am on inner dialogue while conversation is On at outer level. Somewhere benefiting both of us.

Looking forward for more such meaningful communication with self, Self and you all as part of Self.

Learning continues in December 2018

Learning something new, going out of comfort zone little bit at a time keeps me young. Learning something new everyday would be a nice challenge for the year to come.

Last week I posted about 12 new learning of 2018 https://godsknow.blogspot.com/2018/12/12-new-learning-of-2018.html

December one was pending over there.

In last one week duration I tried to be as close to The Nature as I can.
Starting from using natural paste for oral hygiene , eating raw fruits and vegetables (break fast only fruit juice @8am; lunch only fruits@11am and dinner only salad, boil vegetables and fruit@5pm), sun basking and lots of bird and sky watching.

Mud brick making and chicken coop was another exciting learning, from collecting and mixing materials to placing them and doing some calculations.

And practices art of story telling along with yogaasan and physical exercises.

Overall consolidation of learning from the year 2018, took place in last few days.

Do you have a Dream Team?

Do you have a Dream Team?

Your own personal team. Not of IPL or EPL, but your personal team which has power to guide, mould as well as make you a happy, successful Person. A person you truly deserve to Be.

I am going to share something very personal with a hope that it may help you to lead a life.
The phrase ‘Dream Team’ is not new or well held secret. It was known secret by many different names. In Indian tradition it used to be called as kula devi and ista devata [clan goddess and personal idols]. In Arabia they were called farishtey and In Rome-Europe they were called Angels. Here we are not going into region and religion, but will take up that very idea into our Age.

What we going to do is, take an overview of the process and products. Than i will answer common question pertaining to Dream Team and last will share my own experience as an example, to see how process works.

Imagine you have an appointment with five person whom you consider as your ideal/well-wisher. May be they are among Gandhi and Vivekananda or Einstein and Bose or Abdul Kalam and Kalpana Chawla or Steve Jobs and Tata or Krishna and Christ or Your Father and Friend. They all are going to come together just to meet you at mountain hill top. Out of their busy schedule and hectic work-load, all of them are coming just to help you, encourage you. This time you have some particular questions for them. Those question may be about problems you are facing in relations/family/study/work or any thing under the sun or just question out of curiosity. Those questions doesn’t matter to them, they are joyful ever and what they are looking forward is to see you and have a conversation with you. You are also excited about meeting them, personally and sharing your life moment.

After meeting… you come to your home and still cherishing those moments you recollect what they had said to you. You are at peace now, as you have found answers of your questions, solutions of few problems and you are confident enough to tackle those problems now. This is what Dream Team does to you, sets you on positive note. Rekindles spirit within you and make you in touch with solutions hidden within you. believe it or not, all of them are there to help you and guide you. Only thing you have to do is to take out some time from your schedule, seat in silence, call them, meet them. Spend some wonderful time with them. As you will relax, flow of creativity, abundance of love and bliss will engulf you. They will fill you with new hope, new energy to work with patience and perseverance till you achieve your goal.

So are you ready to meet your Dream Team? To Unleash power of yours with them and creating a better future. Here is a way towards that in a question answer format.


What is a Dream Team?

It is a team of personalities with highest qualities and virtues. Those who have done something significant in their life-time. This significant things may be for their families and friends or for community or for profession they were in or for whole nation and world. All member of team, has a vision to see beyond and courage to follow up their vision. Or may be they were hard-working, happy individual who walked the path with dignity.

You have some good connection with them. You have now become fellow traveller with them. and as your journey move on, Whenever you are stuck or want some assistance or help, they come to meet and assist you. They are link between your problem and solutions.

Whom to take in your Dream Team?

One can select any one in this team. Someone you adore for their well doing. Someone on whom you have trust and know that they can give you right guidance. It may be any person from your family to famous personalities. That person might be living or has left a legacy. There is no upper-limit for how many members one should have in one dream team. May be you want to start with small three or five member team. take care that they represent different domains of life, from relation to religion and profession to personal.

Some important pointer for selecting your dream team:

1 - You should have fair amount of knowledge about those personalities, either by personal experience or through their acts or through their biographies.
2 - Select one who matches with your personality more.
3 - Rather than thinking about them, just close your eyes, go in silence and they will find you - they will come to you.

How to meet them? When and Where to meet them?

Once you have prepared your dream team and known who’s who. You are ready to meet them. You can select any beautiful place where just you and your dream team can spend some good time. You can call them anytime and from anywhere. At initial stage keeping time and place [physical ones] fixed, helps a lot to continue the process. Whenever you call them, don’t go because you have problem. first just start meeting with them, feel how much in awe you will be when legends like them are in front of you. What kind of thoughts and feelings will be there. Share those things with them. Once you establish a relation, narrate your problem or ask your questions to them. remember be specific, provide every detail yet remaining to the point. They have come specially for you, so take care of their time. Sometime you can be direct and ask “How you have tackled so and so situations?” they might give answers then or they inspire you to read something from their works or come in contact with silence. Sometime [mostly when mind is too active] it seems they are not coming or telling what you want, than don’t keep on persisting to find something, Rather wind-up your meeting and talk about that in your next meeting. There are no rules of how many time you can meet in a week or a month. Its upto you, meeting daily or once a week might be good start.

I came across this somewhere four years ago and had practiced it few times. Even Though I have never got chance to do dream team meditation personally with Nithya Shanti still audio contains same amount of power as you are with him. Audio gives clear instructions and by second and third attempt you will be familiar with what to do and how to do it. The Dream Team Meditation always solves my questions at least, may be because method came to me naturally some nine year ago. My own example may help you to understand dream team little better.

In audio file it is mentioned as dream team meditation. But for me it did not came as a meditation technique or as part of any technique. I was reading Swami Vivekananda’s Book in year 2006. Where He had mentioned that Indian Youth should worship Hanumanji, Sri Ram, Sri Krishna and Kali - Ma. Swamiji elaborated what qualities they have and why youth should worship them. [Hanuman - Service and Humility, Ram - Discipline, Krishna - Perfection and love, Kali - Power] And in same book he talked about having your personal Ideal and Master in life.

Taking hint from Swamiji’s message on night of Diwali, I wrote a letter to whom i call Fabulous Five and Superb Seven. In letter i just stated that I have selected you as my team member, I will be happy to receive you and share many things with you. Thereafter almost everyday in my diary i used to address them and share incidents of days to them and sometime ask questions about life, work, situations to them. Sometime answers comes soon and sometime never, sometime it comes in very unusual way and from unexpected sources. for example, last week I had asked my dream team certain question about life and before i complete my questioning and sharing. I received call from my uncle to come at his home urgently. I went there and found he had some urgent work and need to go with aunt far. grand-ma is alone at home so to take care till night. I was not prepared for spending time at uncle, no laptop or mobile or any book. I was stuck there just with food, grand-ma and television. After some time I started watching movie and as somewhere i was in half-sleep suddenly one of the member came and said pay attention, this movie are going to give answer of today’s question. And to surprise they gave it also.

When something like this happen, first of all it's hard to believe but as you trust and move on you will find that you are filled with peace and bliss, which stays like a tranquil water of lake. Over time I have extended my dream team. Let me introduce them to you, so you have little more idea. I have three teams. Fabulous Five is direct inspiration and as per words of Swami Vivekananda. Instead of Four of Swamiji’s - Hanumanji, Sri Ram, Sri Krishna, Kali Ma and Ganeshji. I kept ganeshji as I like him a lot and believed to be giver of intellect. To make further link with them out of many spiritual Master I have selected few, and they have some inter-related link. They are Ram Krishna Paramhansh, Swami Vivekananda, Maa Sarada, Sri Aurobindo, The Mother, Pandit Sri Ram Sharma Aacharya and Maa Bhagwati Devi.

And now the last one, whom i imagine in any normal situation and find what they would have done if they were in such a case. This team consist of Dr. Abdul Kalam, Nithya Shanti, Rahul Dravid (cricketer - only exception) and two more member from my profession, my seniors & mentor. Even though I can meet and talk with them, but sometime it’s difficult to find or share everything. Just knowing them and following dream team works out well.

Caught up in the web!!!



Scene 1:
“Vaibhav Bhaiyya, sujal wants a mobile like mine but in lower price range. Will you search on internet and we will order for him.” Supervisor of housekeeping team told while entering into school computer lab. I nodded with a smile to them, gave them chairs and turned screen towards all of us to being our search. Whole pandora's box was out there, variety of choices and options to select from. I asked few basic questions related to specification and he gave me details about what kind of mobile he is looking to buy.

After 30 minutes of tireless surfing on different web-portals, we were confused which model to buy. Each one with little bit of difference in their specifications and prices. Tired of our efforts sujal told me, bhaiyya you select one best for me. I blindly selected one and placed the order for him. He was initially happy when he received his consignment, but soon that faded away as he came to know about some fault in mobile which we had not paid attention while selecting and ordering.

Scene 2:

“Hey brother, Do you know name of that Indian off-spinner from southern India, who does commentary now a days?” Someone asked me in a party. As i answered in negative, face of that person turned up like he is telling me ‘disgusting man, you don’t know even that!’ He turned to someone else, and after round of same question, everyone was puzzled. To solve this mystery one from the group took out his mobile and google it to know.

As this episode got over, soon another began. ‘who is Aakash Ambani, out of this two?’ Ohh, i forgot to tell you IPL 8 final is going on!

Isn’t this a regular trend in our homes, offices, parties, gatherings, schools and colleges. How much time our attention goes in such mindless searches or overburden of information, like our whole life depends upon them. In knowing  who is Mayweather and Pacquiao, price of iPhone to i20, son of ambani and girlfriend of timberlake, latest movie of Salman Khan and where our prime minister Narendra Modi is? From knowing rate of currency to flights, new deals on amazon and flipkart, following twitter and cricbuzz.

Even this much informations are not enough, on top we have subjective informations in forms of news & views in information age. Hey wait! what is this subjective information? Ohh, see whenever we attach motives, our feelings, our mental state or interest with information it becomes subjective. For example, whether Salman Khan is good Human being or not? Modi’s recent comment during trip is national shame or not? and so on, instead of plain information it always contains colors. Thus, they are the most dangerous among all. As they have more deeper penetration, our attention goes to it most easily and it hampers our intellect, decision making skill and unknowingly our thoughts are moulded by them. Information provider can use deceptive ways to pass on views through information that appeals you most. We are consuming on an average 20-100 information approximately on weekly basis, that to not with consent and being aware of them. Mostly all those information are so appealing [in novelty, colors, contrast, size, change, intensity and clarity] and bombarded repetitively that it never fails to bring our attention to them. With visual effects, catchy tunes & words and voice modulation they appeal so much to ignite feelings in us. Falling in this trap, we stop thinking independently and keep on judging people, things and circumstances through those lenses.

Objective information, like those of scene 1 only puts us into dilemma of selection. If by fault, we missed something in rush of time and flush of information, leads to lesser satisfaction of service. we condemn ourselves and others for it. Good part is that we at least have a will of paying attention to those information or not. Even though exercising our will sounds difficult in era of advertising and marketing. At the end choice is ours, will is ours. We can train our mind and find a simple solutions for filtering objective information. While we can’t say as above in regards to subjective information, they are subtle and superior. Let’s see how?

In this flood of informations, we come across all sorts of thoughts and ideas through subjective once too. Tainted by glasses through which writer or speaker has put before us. Sometime just for sake of opposing something or wanting to appear cool, they produce baseless and useless statements and arguments. And we blindly follow them. Not only just listening to their thoughts and ideas but also making their ideas ours too. Why we do that? because thinking is difficult task. Second, It is flood of information, we forget things too easily and those news changes so rapidly that mind is not able to give time to digest them. To Put those thoughts and ideas to Highest tribunal of our Intellect for knowing good or bad for self. Also those thoughts which had disappeared in flood of informations, are actually stored somewhere in subconscious mind. Making us vulnerable to amplified strikes to mind when similar kind of information comes to mind. Third, we have not train our mind to really think. Fourth, Those thoughts and ideas has come from a people whom we believe are successful and at top position in their field. Hence, their views appears more appealing because we too want success and happiness. Here we forget that they might be best and at top position in their field but it doesn’t mean that they are happy and successful in all aspects of life. Slowly without realising we start taking hints from views and ideas shared by them. Living life as they have told, wanting and doing things under spell of those thoughts. This is the general pattern, from very young age we listen to them. What a danger! instead of listening to our own voices, we slowly start listening to them.  

Now question to ask ourselves are, whether we or rather I would like to continue looking through that lenses or not? What information are good for me and what not? Whether to pay any heed to those information or not? Do I have a choice? and Strong enough will power with discrimination for selecting what is right for me? and all those questions which are going to follow as a consequence.  

Everyone has to take his/her decision here.

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”
This were the words of The Lord Buddha. Whether to Follow on this line of thought or not is also up to us.

Incase we want to follow it, we need to find a way and time to put forth our reason and common sense before believing to those information. How to do that is a big question? Our attention goes to them so easily and lucratively that it becomes difficult to select. Following are few points for beginners [they had helped me and I pray & wish same for others too.]

1 - To observe our own thinking and thoughts, if possible record them.
2 -To ask simple question, why i endorse so and so things. Is it because someone famous has said, it is written in those books/newspaper/magazine/scriptures or i truly feel it and think it. If you can put your mind on work and calmly note down thoughts in favor as well as thoughts in against. Similarly feelings in favours and in against and actions with their consequences. This will help to clarify whether we are independent in our thinking or we just follow what others are saying and doing.
3 - Becoming silent and trying to listen to inner voice. Believing in self and working from that confidence.
4 - Those who like to go for mediation, they can meditate upon single thought and try to remain on them without getting attached. As mind becomes still and clear, we can see from where those thought had came and where it went.

Remember still & calm mind, with awareness of present is most helpful than those which contains chunks of information and gets easily distracted & disturbed. Specially for my student friends, follow any methods and curtail down your attention seeking information. This will help you not only save your time but mental energy too. That will help you to do your study with more focus. As key of success is not in knowing more amount of information but in span of attention or concentration.

21st Centuries Skills : Self - Learning

Past few weeks most of us have seen advertisement of idea cellular's ‘IIN’, Idea Internet Network. Apart from common mistake like adding extra word like network with internet, adv tells many things. It gives us message of you can learn anything, without any constraints of social or financial or distance or learning pace. One might easily get carried away about how much people can learn and achieve. Yes, you can make -believe Indian consumers. Yes, you can sell any product in India if you have some quirky mind, loud the point voice and ability to show bigger dreams.

Never mind, I am not going to talk about advertisements and marketing here. My sole purpose is to put in front one of the unrated skill and underdeveloped skilled in India. IIN  adv. only relation with this article is pointing towards that skill, which educationalist has termed as self-learning. If any one has studied national policy documents of education, one will find high-level of importance given on developing abilities of self-learning. To quote from Yashpal Committee’s famous report ‘Learning without Burden’ of 1993

“…inadequate programmes of teacher preparation lead to unsatisfactory quality of learning in schools. The content of the programme should be restructured to ensure its relevance to the changing needs of school education. The emphasis in these programmes should be on enabling the trainees to acquire the ability for self-learning and independent thinking.”

It points importance of acquiring the ability of self-learning for teachers, so they can help children to develop the same. Not just in India, all over the world it has been kept as most essential skills of 21st century. Whether it is UNESCO or OECD, all of them have argued and made brilliant programs with lots of funding from world bank and other organization. With advent of Computers and Internet, it seems that we can achieve those target for Self-Learning. Still in reality picture is quite different. Instead of showing you a gloomy pictures and status of Self-Learning, I am showing you major problems one faces in self-learning. Problems which our education system fails to solve and we can make an attempt for solving it by understanding what is self-learning and doing self-learning.

Self-learning requires high level of motivation, a passion for learning. Passion for not just getting success and earning money but a hunger to learn, for joy of learning and to do something different. That comes when Individuals are allowed to learn what they truly want to learn or by those teacher who can inspire student to learn. How to Create and develop such an interest? Our society whose prime importance is clearing exams for success and money, will be able to provide freedom and environment where learning can take place?

Self-learning requires one to take responsibilities of one’s learning, from deciding what to learn? how to learn? when to learn? from whom to learn? and all other decision making in path of learning when you get choices. Do we [teenagers and youngsters] have a right or even say in this?

Self-learning requires better commitment, an unmatched discipline, sincerity, confidence on oneself and many other traits. Do We have such commitment and discipline within us?

curtail wings and expect to fly

I was seating in school’s admission office, reading a book on education. A Parent came in to inquire about admission. I took them around, shown them school, gave them details and they took admission form. While leaving school Father said, “Sir, my daughter is very hyper. She can’t seat even for a minute. Do discipline her. I want to see her flying one day!”
I stood frozen with fake smile on face. I can’t kill expectation of parent, who wants to see their kids flying high in the sky and asks us (teacher) to curtail their developing wings. Why I can’t kill those desires?
Do I practice non-violence? Or I don’t have power? ….

I am here.. Still, mind keeps going back there…

Who requires education?

More than a month, I am thinking "how much harmful our online shopping is to environment?"
Sharing some thoughts which gave the concern and got more concern when read more stuff online on same issues.

12 new learning of 2018

Year 2018 is moving to its closure. Yet, I see its never a complete closure for a time. There are always some thread connecting, open. Always something recurring and not giving the full stop. Few days back, I sat down to find out what all I did in the year 2018. Were there any new learning?

Interestingly! I found I learnt something new each month. Here is a list of workshop or new things attempted.

In month of July also there were few learning. Yet they do not qualify completely to be on the list.

Now, looking forward to year 2019. For consolidating learning of 2018 with practice and new ones too.
