What is day?
"24 hours makes a day." Normal answer you will get for such a question. look into dictionary, it might define day with more words and make sense.
When i asked this question to myself, i was little bit shocked on listening to my own answers and counter questions. day, in non-formal way a unit used for communication about time and scientifically standardize unit of time measurement. This very thing 'standardized' put a break on head, Is day a fixed quantity or a varying quantity? Is day can really been separated and segmented or it is continuous undivided? Can I really divide time? Oh my god!!!
such boggling question, but wait! By what I arrived to such question? With what I had started and chain of thoughts lead to here.
O, I forgot to tell you thought came when I received message from ayush mantralaya, Bharat Sarkar about celebrating International Yoga Day. soon my father came to house from his yoga class and handed over bunch of pamphlets for distributing on occasion of International Yoga Day.
Yes, Today July 21,2015 date we associate for being longest day on one part of hemisphere. Same date has now been marked by UN as International Yoga Day. That's good!
What we are going to do in that? we will come together and do yoga. Ohh, really?
Yes, we will do some aasana [take some posture and will try to hold it] along with pranayam [control and conscious breathing].
That's it!
What else? few will come on stage and say nice word about yoga. few will organize lectures on yoga.
Ok, so yo mean Aasana + Pranayam = Yoga. fine, no problem. by doing it, we will be able to achieve yoga?
What? What?
By doing Aasana + Pranayam , we will be able to do achieve yoga?
Didn't got it?
Yoga, the word means 'UNION'. how is that going to be possible by being in so and so posture and breathing. and more importantly union of whom?
Again, you are asking question. Don't ask questions! just do! Accepted that only.
But SORRY!
I have to many questions, possible answers, views and perceptions.
Why GOI had started this day
possible reason: 1 - To promote health awareness, 2 - To promote yogic system worldwide, 3 - To generate opportunities for youngsters in terms of Job, 4 - To help promote synergy between nature and human, 5 - It is too politically and economical, amalgamation difficult to digest with social spices.
I am not bothered about all this, what essential thing came is there are days.
International Days, World Days, National Days, Religious Days [you can put festivals in this categories], Society or Family Days [Birth days, anniversaries, special events] and last Personal Days.
Uffff, I amidst too many days.
Whatever days I am in or out. Whether it is night or day. I have to try and live as if
"ALL LIFE IS YOGA." This are the words came through my master, Sri Aurobindo.
With all due respect, I would love to walk on that path. Where irrespective of Space and Time, Work and Worship, Sleep or Awake, everything that life offers, has to be offered back to its source and achieve that union, The Yoga.
Thus, I accept International day of yoga too, with its limited and partial view. By that widen my own self as well as widen the knowledge of yoga, as it came from Divine.
A Humble gratitude to all The Masters who kept alive this system. Who all struggled, suffered, endured and made pathways for UNION. Thank you so much.
In service and as an offering at the feet of Divine.
